I am a Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist working in Private Practice. I work predominantly with preschool and primary school-aged learners. I believe in a multi-disciplinary approach and collaborate with the children's parents, class teachers and other therapists in order to ensure the most effective form of therapy. I have found the RAVE-O Programme to be excellent in targeting literacy, auditory processing and language skills in a holistic and interactive manner. I have seen improvements in the children's reading fluency, accuracy and confidence when reading. My knowledge and training as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist, in conjunction with the RAVE-O Training, have been effective in my intervention for literacy and dyslexia.

Since language undergirds all learning, my areas of speciality include but not limited to stuttering, emergent literacy and literacy in the school age population. I have successfully completed the Award in Literacy & Dyslexia course and RAVE-O.

I am a qualified speech and language therapist and have completed the RAVE-O training. My work experience includes assisting children with difficulties in speech production, voice, fluency, auditory processing, phonological awareness, and language skills. For the past 7 years that I have lived abroad, my work has focused on autism/ASD, specific learning difficulties and English as a foreign/additional language. I am passionate about the development of language and literacy skills in the early years and about using quality, evidenced-based approaches to support literacy development in every individual. I believe in working in partnership with the family, teachers/school and other professionals with the focus on the child.

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologist in private practice. I work predominantly with preschool and primary school-aged children in the areas of speech, language and auditory processing development as well as literacy skills. I work closely with an OT and Physiotherapist in my practice and believe strongly in the multidisciplinary approach when treating a child who attends more than one kind of therapy. I am RAVE-O trained and use this program with my learners; having a strong foundation in my knowledge and skills as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the areas of language and auditory processing skills adds to the effectiveness of the intervention.

I use both the DILP and the RAVE-0 programmes with the learners that I assist on an individual basis, depending on their needs. I have been using the DILP programme for about a year now. The RAVE-O programme I have been using for 8 months. I often use a combination of both the programmes as I find that children with reading difficulties benefit from a combination of the programmes.

I have always been interested in the way children learn. That learning is not a one-size-fits-all process. From a personal point of view, I have seen how emotionally and physically draining having a child with barriers to learning can be. When I completed my schooling, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.As a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand (Bachelor of Arts, Postgraduate Certificate in Education and Honours in Educational Psychology), I have worked part-time as a private tutor, full-time class teacher and facilitator at King David Primary School (Linksfield), Japari School and Bellavista School as well as a Remedial Therapist at Therapyworx in Bedfordview. I therefore have the added understanding of the optimal emotional, cognitive and educational development of the learner in his or her environment.
